Employee Spotlight: Robby Howard

Meet Robby Howard, Celtic’s very own copywriter and pal to all. When Robby isn’t writing catchy headlines, he’s actively parenting two cats all whilst maintaining a winning office fantasy football team.

Can you describe what you do in five words?
Tell brand stories. (Okay, we’ll take 3 words— Robby’s an over-achiever).

You’ve been given an elephant. You can’t give it away or sell it. What would you do with this elephant?
I think the only logical thing to do would be to start a one-man circus. (Naturally)

What would the name of your debut album be?
Write Here. Write Now.

What’s one of your favorite pieces you’ve written as a Celt?
I would go with the conceptual campaign for Starbar® products. We got to do really cool headlining that was smart, but also a little funny, and thanks to the work of a great team of art directors, we were able to give these headlines a treatment that really helped tell a story. (Fun AND educational are the best kind of campaigns, right? See the work here)

Ever have writer’s block? How do you beat it?
Always. I like to listen to music when I write, classical helps me focus (and Write Here, Write Now). Something else that usually helps me stir up some ideas when staring at the dreaded blank word doc is to just start typing whatever comes to mind, even if it’s unrelated.

What did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a sportswriter and I actually did do that for a while. I loved the idea of people buying my written work but the hours were horrible. (No time for his one-man circus)

Most used app on your phone?
Yahoo Fantasy Football app

You just bought a townhouse, (CONGRATS!) what’s been the best and the worst part of having your own place?
The best part has been the feeling of knowing it’s all mine and just being settled. I don’t have to worry about moving, it’s there and it will be for a very long time. Within the first month, the air conditioning went out and I had to take care of it myself— I’m my own landlord now.
